On completion of the training the participants will have the skills and techniques to:
Write clear, concise, and audience-centric content.
Understand the writing process.
Plan and structure documents from scratch.
Understand the value of using a style guide.
Take part in a peer editing process and give constructive and relevant feedback.
Explain the phases of a documentation project. Gather and manage information, and to develop audience-centric content.
Use correct grammar and punctuation, and avoid common grammar errors.
Describe techniques to structure content most suitable to their audience.
Demonstrate the use narrative or storytelling skills to structure content within documents.
Explain the key elements of good writing, such as: using the active voice, clarity of structure and language, conciseness, completeness and accuracy of content.
Demonstrate the use of style guides and template to support a coherent voice and message.
Applying best practices in relation to self-edit, effective peer reviews, and provide constructive feedback to colleagues in review cycles.
Our one-day course helps technical staff, such as scientists, developers, engineers, and other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), develop skills for effective written communication. This course is regularly delivered:
