The acronym “ADDIE” is an Instructional Design model utilised in many industries for many years.
ADDIE stands for:
Analysis
Design
Development
Implementation
Evaluation
Analysis
In the analysis phase, the training need is identified, clarified, and goals and objectives are established. This should take into account the learner’s existing knowledge and skills.
Design
Design phase is based on the learning objectives and defines the session planning, delivery methods, assessments, learner-based exercises, supporting content and technical requirements.
Development
This is where instructional designers (or trainers) design the training based on the analysis and development phases. Training curriculum, lesson plans, task and knowledge transfer activities are created.
Implementation
Delivering the training in the most effective manner possible, ensuring the agreed course curriculum, learning outcomes, methods of delivery, and assessments are completed and recorded.
Evaluation
The evaluation phase ensures a continuous cycle where training content, delivery methods, knowledge transfer and trainer skills are reviewed on an ongoing basis to ensure effectiveness of training and continuous improvement.
